Arequipa

Arequipa is located 1.000 kilometers southern from Lima, at the feet of the famous volcano Misti. The town is famous for the beauty of its colonial architecture, made from a white volcanic rock, the sillar. It is also know as the starting point to the Colca Canyon, the second deepest canyon worldwide. With its 700.000 inhabitants, Arequipa is the second biggest city in Peru. At 2.380m high, offering a temperate and dry climate, the white city was founded in 1540 by Don Garcia Manuel de Carbajal. A great number of churches, houses and convents with colonial architecture have been restored and opened to the public. Santa Catalina's convent will open us its doors to reveal us its secrets. Under its eternal blue sky and its green land, the city attracts the travellers thanks to the smoothmess of its climate and the beauty of its architecture.

Casa Andina Private Collection Arequipa

Ideally located close to the Santa Catalina Convent and installed within the Casa de la Moneda, national historic monument built in 1794, Casa Andina Private Collection is more a living museum than a hotel. It is housed in a colonial mansion built in stone, with high vaulted ceilings, two large courtyards and a gourmet restaurant. Its colonial architecture offers some freshness across all rooms and protects from the summer heat of Arequipa. Meticulously restored in 2008, the hotel has 40 rooms decorated with original frescoes and a small chapel.
