Day 1: Bogota

Arrival at Bogota El Dorado International airport.
Transfer to your hotel in Zona Norte district.

Day 2: Bogota

Half-day to explore all the secrets of Bogota, a capital known for its colonial and authentic atmosphere.
- A walk in the universe of the emeralds gems: with your "expert" tour guide, you will walk through the cobblestoned streets of the Candelaria district to discover many retailers and craftsmen. By visiting the workshops, you will learn how to recognize the most beautiful stones.
- The visit of the Gold museum which displays one of the most dazzling collection in South America. It brings together around 34.000 pieces of goldsmith work, considered as the world´s largest pre-Colombian collection of its kind. Those artifacts come from different civilizations: Quimbayas, Taironas, Muiscas or Tolimas.
- A coffee tasting flight: a trio of small servings of interesting brews, where a knowledgeable barista will guide you through each cup. These tastings will allow you to experience coffee in a new way, providing you a better understanding of the drink and forging allegiances to high-quality cups of coffee in the process.
Note 1: walking tour in the Candelaria colonial center (3 to 4 hours walking in the city). Gold Museum closed on Mondays.
Half-day dedicated to the visit of Monserrate in Bogota to enjoy the city’s greatness from above. The sanctuary, which rises up to 3.152m over the capital, is the center of the national religious tradition, and has become a part of the capital’s history due to the high flow of visitants.

Day 3: Bogota - Leticia - Calanoa Reserve

Transfer to Bogota airport for your domestic flight.

Domestic flight to Leticia.
Arrival to Leticia and transfer by private boat on the Rio Amazonas to reach the lodge. After 1h30 of navigation, check into your lodge.

After dinner, night jungle walk to soak up noise, and discover species of insects and animals that only come out at night.

IMPORTANT : The Calanoa lodge is an Ecolodge which works closely with local communities.
Located in the heart of the Amazon rainforest, it functions ecologically: use of rain water, electricity only between 3 PM and 11 PM, meals prepared according refueling and fishing.
The activities are generally organized as follows: a first excursion in the morning at 9 AM, returning in the late morning, then lunch at the lodge. A second one is planned between 3 and 5 PM. The order of activities may be reorganized with your guide depending on weather conditions or your interests.

Note 1: at Leticia airport, you will have to pay the Amazon tourist tax (21000 COP / person to date) .
Note 2: possibility to spend a first night in Leticia and visit the city. Starting at the lodge the next day.

Day 4: Calanoa Reserve

After breakfast, visit of the indigenous community of El Vergel.
This community is composed mainly of the Tikunas tribe.
Meeting with the Indian ancestral culture and discover their crafts. Lunch at the lodge.

In the afternoon, walking in the nature reserve surrounding the lodge. Your guide will show you the secrets of the flora and fauna, medicinal plants, giant trees, the adaptation of different plants to the jungle. You might cross families of micos (monkeys), parrots, armadillos and many tropical birds.

You can then return to the lodge by canoe, through the Quebrada Matamata, the limits of Amacayacu Park.

Note 1: donations of school supplies and light clothing are welcome to the village El Vergel.
Note 2: about two hours walking.
Note 3: because of rain, returning in canoe might not be possible between July and November.

Day 5: Calanoa Reserve - Leticia - Bogota - Pereira

After breakfast departure for Leticia in a private boat.

Note: according to your flight schedule, you can visit the city of Leticia. You can then reach the airport (located 10 minutes from the city) in "Cocotaxi".

Domestic flight to Bogota.

Domestic flight to Pereira.
Welcome to the « Coffee Triangle », including the departments of Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío, which together make up the heart of the Zona Cafetera, also called the Eje Cafetero. This area is famous for growing and producing the majority of the Colombian coffee, considered by some as the best coffee in the world.
Transfer to your Hacienda, a large traditional landed estate.

Day 6: Salento - Cocora Valley - Pereira

Delve deep into this Colombia´s beautiful area.
This day will be dedicated to the discovery of the scenic landscapes and small villages:
- Jeep Willys ride in the countryside
- Hiking tour past the soaring wax-palm trees in lush Cocora Valley
- Lunch break
- Visit of Salento: panoramic tour, discovery of the local architecture, the houses made of bamboo and the colourful handicraft shops.

Day 7: Armenia - Buenavista - Pijao - Filandia - Armenia - Pereira

Today, you will visit a well-known finca (coffee farm). The owner will welcome you onto his plantations and teach you all about the coffee-growing process, from seed to cup. And of course, you will end this tour by tasting some of the best coffee in the world.
On the way back, you will enjoy breathtaking views over the Quindio landscape. You will stop at the charming village of Pijao, hidden among mountains.
And then, make a stop at Filandia, a small colorful village knowns for its handcraft.

Day 8: Pereira - Bogota - Santa Marta

Day 9: Santa Marta - Tayrona National Park - Don Diego River - Tayronaka - Santa Marta

Transfer to Tayrona National Park.
Today you´ll go down Don Diego river in a swimming ring! Along the way you will stop on the banks of the river to see the remains of Tayronaka, city of the Tayrona Indians. You will then continue the descent to the sea, watching howler monkeys and beautiful birds. The arrival of the ocean is spectacular!
Note: 1-2 hours down the river to the sea; 1-hour hiking.

Day 10: Santa Marta

After a detour to the small fishing village of Taganga where you can choose your catch of the day by a local fisherman (fresh fish and live lobsters), you will visit the historical center of Santa Marta: its churches, squares and typical markets. You will discover the gold museum before and meet an authentic Wayuu weaver and learn about their weaving technique.
For lunch, a French chef awaits you to cook the fish you chose earlier. Then, departure for Quinta San Pedro, where you will discover a beautiful garden, and the last remains of Bolivar, hero of South American independence. On the way back, enjoy a typical Raspao or a delicious homemade ice cream on the beautiful Plaza de los Novios.
Finally, to finish this beautiful day, we invite you to a small boat ride on Santa Marta Bay to admire a beautiful sunset while sipping a drink. After this unforgettable day, return to your hotel for a well-deserved evening of rest.

Day 11: Santa Marta - Cartagena de Indias

In the morning, departure to Cartagena de Indias, on the Caribbean Coast. Transfer to your hotel. Enjoy the end of the day to mix with the locals and soak up the regional atmosphere of this splendid colonial city designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Note : 4 to 5 hours ride.
Afternoon dedicated to your wellbeing in one of the most famous spas of Cartagena. A 1-hour massage will be offered during your stay.

Day 12: Cartagena de Indias

Day 13: Cartagena de Indias

You can visit on your own the historic center and enjoy its unique atmosphere, discover the modern area of Bocagrande, or simply go shopping among the numerous craft shops of Las Bovedas. At sunset, we advise you to have a drink at the walls...
