Day 1: Cesar Sadino International Airport - Managua


Welcome at the Managua International Airport.
First contact with colourful Nicaragua and reception of your travel documents.
Private transfer to your hotel in Managua.

Day 2: Managua - Granada

In the morning you will visit the capital of Nicaragua uncovering the National Museum, the historic district and the cathedral.
Lunch and departure to the colonial city of Granada .
Granada is one of the most important colonial cities in Central America. Founded in 1524 , is the oldest city in the Americas and it is still a real colonial gem!
Let yourself be lulled by the history and folklore of the place as you walk through the cobbled streets and colorful .

Half day dedicated to the discovery of Las Isletas archipelago, off the coast of Granada on Lago Nicaragua.
You will navigate between these 400 basalt islands where Nicaraguans as well as birds have settled.
During the tour, you will have an excellent view of Mombacho volcano and will be able to spot lots of birds... many other animals.

Day 3: Masaya - Granada


With 54km2 and 20km of trails in the wild, the Masaya Volcano National Park will give you a different view of what is happening beneath the earth's crust. With five craters, Masaya, called " Popogatepe " by the indigenous Nahuatl, is the most accessible active volcano in the world. The tour will then take you to the arts-and-craft market in Masaya. You will also stop at Catarina lookout point, from where you can see Laguna de Apoyo. The final stop will be in San Juan del Oriente, famous for its pottery and ceramics, before driving back to Granada.
In the morning your english speaking guide will meet you for a discovery walk of Granada, a real colonial treasure. All the way of the tour you will learn about the history of the buildings more or less famous and touristic.
Visit the Cathedral, the church of La Merced and the church of Xalteva which was originally the centre of the city of Granada.
Then pass through the central market and its colored stalls. We recommend you to taste a "vigoron" on the central square in the shadow of the trees.
In the afternoon continue the discovery, listening to your guide telling you about the history of the city from the polvora fortress. From there enjoy the superb view on the calle real.
Return to your hotel in a taxi.

Day 4: Granada - Ometepe Island


The 10th day you will head to Rivas and embark on the ferry to Ometepe Island, where you will spend the night.

Note: 1:30 hour drive plus 1 hour boat ride

Day 5: Ometepe Island

Free day to enjoy the many activities available on the island of Ometepe. We recommend a stroll in the footsteps of petroglyphs, mysterious footprints in stone made by the Chorotega Natives in many places of the island, they are more than 1500 years old. You can also go kayaking for half a day in the mangroves from the Istian isthmus.To swim the ideal is to go on foot, bicycle or taxi to the Ojo de agua, a natural swimming pool with transparent and thermal waters. Finally, for hiking enthusiasts, we recommend to go to the San Ramon waterfall starting on right from your hotel.

Day 6: Ometepe Island - Peñas blancas - Rincon de la Vieja volcano


Early in the morning, you will be back on the road to Costa Rica.
Drive to Moyogalpa to embark on the ferry to Rivas. Then drive to Peñas Blancas and the Costa Rican border.

Note: 1 hour boat ride
Note 2: Ferry to pay directly (2 USD pp + 25 USD per vehicle)
Note 3: Don't forget Panama's exit fees

Once in Costa Rica, head south to Rincon de la Vieja, where you will spend the night.
Rincon de la Vieja and its volcano are one of the most active geothermical areas of Costa Rica. Observe gas and smokes coming out of the volcano, enjoy the hotsprings !
Note: About 2h-drive. Pick-up time and place to be defined later on.

Day 7: Rincon de la Vieja volcano

You will explore at your will one or several of the three areas of the park Rincon de la Vieja (the Cangreja, las Pailas and Santa Maria). At the heart of this park stands the massive volcano of the same name. It's the origin of geothermal activity you will see during hikes in las Pailas sector or Santa Maria. You will probably come across capuchins, howler monkeys and spider monkeys, anteaters, sloths and over 300 species of birds. The park, established in 1973, is home to a large concentration of orchids or "Guaria morada" (Guarianthe skinneri) the local flower.

Note: Cangreja and Las Pailas areas are closed on Mondays. Santa Maria area opens daily but it is more difficult to access during the rainy season.

Day 8: Rincon de la Vieja volcano - Arenal Volcano


Departure for La Fortuna and the majestic Arenal Volcano (1635 meters). Along the way, it is possible to stop a Las Pumas de Cañas Rescue Center, whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and ensure good conditions for endangered wildlife in Costa Rica, and encourage society's respect and appreciation for wildlife through these actions. Then you will be reaching the Laguna Arenal, perfect for practice Windsurf. Arrival at the hotel near the Arenal

Late afternoon treat yourself to a relaxing time in the spa resort of Ecotermales in an intimate setting. Day 9: Arenal Volcano

Guarantied thrill in total safety...
You will start walking on a series of hanging bridges (5 in total, from 20 to 37m high) above the canopy, for a very special point of view on the rainforest ! Then, take a cable car to observe the flora and fauna without much effort. You will end the activity exploring the top of the trees sliding from a platform to another by a cable. This is a high wire course suspended at the top of the trees with a total of 3 km of circuit.

Day 10: Arenal Volcano - Turrialba Volcano - Turrialba Valley

Day 11: Turrialba Valley - Puerto Viejo de Talamanca

Drive in direction of the Caraibe coast. On the way you may stop in Limón, the capital of the equally named province.
The very busy port of Moin regularly hosts cruising ships and is the place where the bananas are packed before delivery to Europe.
Arrive ath the hotel near Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, a colorful village between mountains and sea, where the painted wooden houses, some on piles, are absolutely charming.
Meals not included.

Day 12: Puerto Viejo de Talamanca


Free time to explore the area as you wish. The choice of activities is very broad: lounging, swimming, hiking in private or public reserves (Cahuita, Gandoca Manzanillo), observing local wildlife in the parks or in shelters (Las Pumas Rescue Center), practicing sports (surf, horseback riding, snorkeling, scuba-diving) etc. You can as well spend a day with the local Bribri community and share their unique traditions.

Day 13: Puerto Viejo de Talamanca - Almirante - Isla Colón


Group transfer from Puerto Viejo de Talamanca to Bocas del Toro.
On the way, you will stop at the Panamanian border, and at Almirante where you will take a boat to Bocas Town.
Note: around 3h30 drive. 20 minute-boat ride. Don't forget your exit and entrance taxes.

Day 16: Bocas del Toro - Albrook Airport - Panama city - Miraflores water locks - Casco Antiguo

You will take a flight to Panama City.

Note 1: Luggage weight limit is around 12 kg per person for checked baggage and 2 kg for cabin baggage. 2 USD/extra kilo.
Note 2: There are three flights every day (7:40, 16:55, 17:15), duration: between 55 and 80 minutes.

Private transfer from the Albrook Airport to your hotel.
Your driver will pick you up at your hotel for a city tour of Panama City.

Our first stop of the day will be in Panama La Vieja, first capital of the country before it was destroyed by the famous pirate Henry Morgan.

Then, we will head to the must-see Panama Canal and the Miraflores Locks. The visitor center offers a view on transiting vessels of all sorts (container ships, cruise ships, or tiny yachts). It explains the history of the Canal and how the locks work.

We will end our day with a tour in the Casco Antiguo. This bohemian center of Panama City will make you travel in time and immerge into the the historical past of the country. Take a walk in the narrow streets bordered with colorful buildings leading to the Plaza de Francia. Discover the Art-Deco architecture, the cathedral and visit the Panama Canal Museum.

Note 1: the Canal Museum and Panama La Vieja are closed on Mondays.
Note 2: The order of the visits depends on the Canal schedule.
