This 9-days tour in luxurious train from South African highveld ends at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. During your journey, discover Kimberley, the world capital of the diamond extraction, the Fish River Canyon, the landscape of the Kalahari Desert, Namibia's capital Windhoek, Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert, the Etosha National Park and finally Swakopmund, city with German influences on the Atlantic coast.

Day 1: Pretoria - Kimberley

14h00 - Registration at the Pretoria train station.

15h00 - Departure aboard the "Pride of Africa". You can sit in your suite before you join the back of the last wagon to observe the landscape or in the lounge wagon.

19h30 - Dining in sumptuous surroundings and traveling at night towards Kimberley.

Note that in the evenings, gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie and ladies are asked to dress elegantly to preserve the authenticity of the travel.

Day 2: Kimberley - Upington

Breakfast is served from 7h00 to 9h45.

9h45 - On arrival at Kimberley, the diamond city, you go for a city tour to discover the "Big Hole", the biggest hole ever mined by man, and the mining and diamonds museums.

12h15 - Departure from Kimberley.

13h00 - Lunch in the restaurant car.

19h30 - Dinner in the restaurant car.

Day 3: Upington - Holoog Siding

1h30 - The train arrives at night in Upington, near the Namibian border. The city is crossed by the Orange River, the longest river in South Africa.

Breakfast is served from 06h00 to 8h00.

8h00 - You will disembark the train for a walking city tour of Upington (about two hours).

12h30 - Arrival at Nakop for customs formalities to enter into Namibia.

13h00 - Lunch in the restaurant car.

19h30 - Dinner in the restaurant car.

Your journey aboard Rovos Rail then continues in Namibia towards Holoog Siding, where you will arrive during the night.

Day 4: Holoog Siding - Keetmanshoop

Breakfast is served from 06h00 to 08h00.

8h00 - After enjoying unparalleled service aboard the Pride of Africa, visit the Fish River Canyon in the impressive Kalahari Desert! It is the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon in the United States. Fish River Canyon was indeed dug millennium after millennium by the longest river in Namibia. At the bottom of the canyon, you will come across zebras, baboons, oryx, hares and leopards.

11h00 - Departure for Keetmanshoop.

13h00 - Lunch in the restaurant car.

15h00 - After lunch on the train, arrival to Keetmanshoop. A nice walk awaits you in the midst of the many churches in the city.

17h00 - You go back on board the train to Windhoek.

19h30 - Dinner in the restaurant car.

Day 5: Keetmanshoop - Sossusvlei

Breakfast is served from 07h00 to 09h00.

09h00 - The train arrives in Windhoek. You go for a two-hour city tour and visit the train museum.

11h00 - You momentarily leave the train to board a small plane from Windhoek for a flight over the dunes of Sossusvlei, the highest sand dunes in the world.

Lunch, drive in the desert, bush dinner and overnight in a lodge in the desert.

Day 6: Sossusvlei - Etosha

06h00 - Your morning starts with an excursion in the desert with a breakfast in the Vlei (salt pan).

12h00 - Flight back to Windhoek and reboarding the train.

13h30 - Lunch and departure towards Otjiwarongo.

19h30 - Dinner in the restaurant car.

Day 7: Etosha - Tsumeb

Breakfast is served from 07h00 to 09h30.

Upon arrival in the morning in Tsumeb, road transfer to your accommodation at Etosha National Park. Safari in one of the largest game reserves in the world. The park is home to 114 species of mammals and over 340 species of birds.

15h00 - Departure for a safari in an open game vehicle in the park.

19h30 - Dinner in the boma and night at the lodge.

Day 8: Tsumeb - Swakopmund

6h00 - A snack is served before departure in a 4x4 vehicle for a safari in Etosha.

9h45 - Return at the lodge for breakfast.

11h00 - Road transfer to go back to the train in Tsumeb.

14h00 - Lunch on the train and departure to Swakopmund.

19h30 - Dinner in the restaurant car.

Day 9: Swakopmund

Breakfast is served from 07h00 to 10h00.

After enjoying your last night aboard the luxury train, you arrive in Swakopmund, the final destination of this trip on a luxury train. Arrival around noon.
